All flowers hand pressed by Mary Bradley

100.jpg I have been a member of a Ladies Club in Newmarket for some 25 years and I remember in those early years a lady giving us a talk on the art of pressing flowers and I thought, yes, I would like to try that, but I made some excuses, at the time .. the childen were too young. I would not have the time and put it to the back of my mind.

Over the next few years that followed, we had quite a few people come and talk or demonstrate their various crafts to us at the club, but nothing caught my interest. Then one evening a lady demonstrated the art of decorating eggs and I thought, no, that sounds too fiddly, but I wouldn't mind trying to press some flowers. So I found a book in the library on Pressed Flowers and I pressed my first flowers in the Spring of 1988.

Once my flowers are pressed, which takes approximately six months, I use them in cards, bookmarks, notelets, pictures, paper weights, gift bags, keyrings, boxes, etc.

I am also willing to talk to any club or association on the art of pressing flowers. If you are interested, please get in touch with me.
